Parades
Every year, Island Riders Saddle Club members participate in the Pine Island Cheese Fest Parade. The following guidelines promote safety and club recognition.
- No stallions!
- All riders must be members of the Island Riders Saddle Club.
- The official Island Riders parade outfit is a white long-sleeved shirt, dark pants or jeans, light colored cowboy hat, and a red Island Riders vest. Vests can be purchased or borrowed from the club.
- Ride two by two, unless otherwise directed.
- Parades are often chaotic affairs, especially from the horse’s point of view. Please consider the safety of the horse, rider, and spectators, as you choose your mount. Whenever possible, pair an inexperienced horse with a quieter, more seasoned parade horse.
- Do not throw candy.
- Do not allow spectators to pet your horse during the parade.
- If you have questions, please ask a knowledgeable club member or the designated IRSC parade organizer.
- For the sake of all participants and spectators, please refrain from drinking alcohol both before and during parades.
